Visakhapatnam: IN yet another major milestone, Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) has given an extended life to a 27-year old offshore patrol vessel (OPV) of Indian Navy after undertaking major repair work.

This has been achieved with dedicated efforts of yard personnel and business partners. HSL said that this is the third major ship's refit in succession that has been completed during the Covid-19 pandemic, the other two being INS Sutlej completed in early March and jack up rig Aban in February. All the three have been completed with stringent quality to the satisfaction of the owners and met the timelines taking into account the pandemic and considerable additional work that was required to meet their roles which is natural for vintage ships.

During an interaction with the business partners of HSL, who are mainly the MSME vendors and OEMs, the Chairman & Managing Director Cmde. Hemant Khatri said on Wednesday that the ship repair division of HSL has come of age and is now geared itself to handle multiple projects simultaneously and also variety of platforms- both Indian Navy, Coast Guard, dredgers, offshore platforms and other merchant vessels.
